With record high temperaturesTuesday businesses that usually don't see much activity until summer are reaping the benefits of this unusually warm start to Spring

Toni Rutherford is manager of Handel's Ice Cream on Massillon Road in Green. She tells AkronNewsNow the unusually warm weather means summer appetites for the cold and creamy treat. " It's been crazier than it's ever been. I've been here for a long time and this is the first time it's been this busy."

Rutherford says the parents and kids have been standing in line. " They're saying how nice it is. They're saying how it's a great time for ice cream. Other than that, no complaints. They're very nice about it, waiting in line forever," says Rutherford.

Rutherford says she and her fellow employees are putting in a lot of long hours, and the customers are lining up, patiently waiting for a treat they usually don't think of until June or July.

Today's record warm start to Spring is also causing golfers to flock to area courses today. Dante D'Andrea , manager of Good Park Golf Course in Akron says it's been a great beginning with plenty of golfers showing up today. " Actually the last week it's been unbelievable , people are excited and ready to go early," says D'Andrea.

'We've had spurts where its nice a day or two, but for this long a time, and the forecast ahead it's as long a warm streak as I can remember."

D'Andrea says conditions should get even better as the course dries out. He says Good Park will let carts out for the first time on Wednesday and even more duffers are expected to show up with temperatures forecast in the 80's.
