Akron firefighters were kept very busy Saturday into Sunday morning by a number of building fires.
Fire officials believe they know what caused a fire Saturday afternoon that started in the garage of a residence on Reed Avenue - a motorcycle left running in the garage that set combustibles ablaze.
The fire got into the home and a neighboring garage, and two firefighters were injured - one sent to the burn center. Another firefighter and a female civilian were treated on scene.
Estimated losses are $120,000 to the home and its contents.
Akron firefighters were busy later Saturday into Sunday as well.
At just before 1:30 Sunday morning, a fire at a home on Sheffield Drive caused heavy damage to the home's kitchen, dining area and living room. No one was hurt.
A vacant home fire on Herberich at just after 5 this morning is under investigation as well.
Investigators are also looking into fires earlier Saturday on Russell Avenue and on Cuyahoga Street. In that fire, a woman trapped on the second floor was rescued by firefighters, and transported to Akron City Hospital for treatment.
