Firefighters battled an apartment complex blaze in Cuyahoga Falls at mid-morning on Wednesday.

Cuyahoga Falls Assistant Fire Chief Fred Jackson says responding units found one of the apartments engulfed in flames and smoke at 2270 Winter Parkway.

The fire was contained to one apartment in the 75 apartment complex but 125 residents were evacuated, and there was smoke damage to the rest of the complex.

Akron, Munroe Falls, Stow and Tallmadge firefighters also responded to a mutual aid call.

Residents were allowed to return to the second and third floors, following clean-up by restoration crews, but at least four residents and possibly more were left homeless by the blaze. Jackson says the Red Cross is at the scene providing assistance .

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A damage estimate is still being totalled.

There were no injuries.
