A 33-year old Akron man will go to prison for trying to ambush Akron Police officers.

Derrick Palm of West Long Street was sentenced to three years behind bars after being found guilty of two counts of felonious assault.

On July 19, Akron Police were called to an address on Boulevard Street where two people were reportedly fighting. When the officers arrived, Palm was the only person there. He punched one of the officers as he was getting out of his car to speak with Palm. The officer ordered Palm to get down on the ground and arrested him.

After his arrest, police discovered that Palm had placed the 911 call with the intention of ambushing the responding officers.
