Ohio Governor John Kasich announced the $400 million in state funding would be divided up among the state's universities and colleges.
Kent State University is recommended to receive more than $20 million, according to Kentwired.com.
The money would be spent on renovations to the main and regional campus buildings.
The University of Akron could see $16 million for projects including renovations to Zook Hall and a science lab at its Wayne campus.
A committee made up of seven members, including Ohio State University President Gordon Gee, listed the funding recommendations in its report for Kasich this week.
