Testimony Begins In "Mr. Football" Home Invasion Case

Jurors heard testimony in the trial of the two-time Mr Football winner accused of robbing a couple during a home invasion robbery.

The Canton Repository reports the jury of nine men and three women heard testimony from the woman 20-year old Erick Howard is accused of robbing at gunpoint in August.

Police say Howard along with Seth Obermiller, duct taped a 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman before robbing them. Howard also is accused of sexually assaulting the woman.

Howard is charged with aggravated burglary, robbery, rape and kidnapping for his alleged role in the crime. He could spent up to 31 years in prison if convicted.

The former North Canton Hoover running back has denied all charges against him.
