Police have arrested a driver after a high speed chase Wednesday afternoon.

The Akron Police Department assisted Hudson and Stow Police Departments with a car chase following an armed robbery that occurred in Hudson. Shortly after 4:00 yesterday afternoon, the pursing agencies entered the City of Akron southbound on State Route 8 at Howe Road. After a twenty minute car chase, the suspect was apprehended at Lakeshore Boulevard and Ira Avenue.

Officers arrested Gerome Burns, 34, of Richmond Street in Akron. Burns was charged with traffic related offenses by the Akron Police Department and Robbery by the Hudson Police Department. Burns was booked into the Summit County Jail.

Akron detectives are following up on Burns’ arrest to see if he is responsible for any robberies that have occurred in the City of Akron.
