Police say it didn't take long to find out what one Akron man was hiding from officers.

Authorities say when officers responded to the sudden death of Dwight Brown in the 1000 block of Diagonal Road, James Fredrick McClendon, 58, lied to police about why the victim was at his house.

Police later found out that McClendon cleaned up the scene and removed drugs and drug paraphernalia before officers arrived.

McClendon has been charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing official business.
