WAKR's 2012 edition of our Share A Christmas campaign is over, with more than $8,800 raised to benefit local programs of The Salvation Army of Summit County.
"This is a wonderful display of what our community is made of, especially during these difficult economic times," said Thom Mandel, President and General Manager of Rubber City Radio Group. "Even with the challenges of the economy, our listeners continue to keep alive hope for those who most desperately need our help and support. We are honored to play such a role with our partners at The Salvation Army of Summit County."
Items making up part of the auction bidding this year included flights aboard the Goodyear Blimp (at left, photo courtesy Goodyear); a Reba McEntyre-autographed guitar; a private dinner for ten donated by Chef Brendan Meeker and Glenmoor Country Club; a Cleveland Indians Experience package which included game field box tickets, batting practice field viewing, and a visit to the Indians Radio Network booth with Indians play-by-play announcer Tom Hamilton; and a Cleveland Cavaliers Experience package which included floor seats, opportunity to sit on the bench during warm-ups, attendance of pre-and-post game Coach Byron Scott news conferences and meeting the Cavaliers announce team as well as Cavaliers greats Austin Carr and Jim Chones.
