What started as a police chase in Akron ended with a car crashing into a house.
It happened just before 1 a.m. this morning at the corner of Euclid and Diagonal. Akron Police say they pulled the driver over on Euclid, but he tried to drive off as officers walked up.
The chase only lasted for about a minute before the crash, which damaged the basement wall of the house. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries while his passenger was not hurt.
Officers arrested 37-year old Deontrey A. Simmons, of South College Street in Barberton. Simmons was charged with willful fleeing and open container in a motor vehicle and booked into the Summit County Jail.
