The Akron School Board today met Friday in executive session to decide on an evaluation for Superintendent David James. Board President Jason Haas says James got high marks from the board.
Haas says James was especially a strong leader during the district's difficult budget cutting process
" David was the person in conjunction with treasurer Pierson who was really leading that charge, so when it came to the finance piece in particular, he's been very strong," says Haas.
How did the Board rate David James performance in meeting his goals halfway through his current contract ? " The general consensus is that he's done very well towards those goals. There was a lot of discussion about laying them out (goals) for the next 12 months. That comes down in a few months at the Board, probably after the election," says Haas.
Haas says David James has already set one goal for the next year. " One of the things he's talked about is reaching out to the community more, and spending the school day and using community resources to do that. Most likely we'll set some parameters around that. And then the Board always pitches in a couple of ideas that we've come up with over the last 12 months."
