Akron has been named as one of the top cities in the Northeast for teachers, according to a recent report.
The data collected by Value Penguin shows Akron ranked 5th on the list based on a teacher's salary, cost of living and the number of jobs in the city.
"We have all known what a great area Akron is, not only to live in and work in, but to teach in," said Patricia Shipe, president of the Akron Education Association. "We're thrilled with the information."
According to Value Penguin, the average salary for a teacher in Akron is $59,950 and the amount of teaching jobs in the city is at 3,480.
Canton and Massillon made the list at number 16. Other cities that made the list in Ohio include Dayton, Springfield, Lima, Youngstown and Steubenville.
The best city for teachers in the Northeast is Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
