Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic getting a first-hand taste of what hit many Akronites when the housing market collapsed.
In court documents filed last week with the Summit County Clerk of Courts, banking giant Wells Fargo filed the foreclosure action on a home at 1180 West Exchange Street where Plusquellic and ex-girlfriend Melissa K. Barnhart are listed as owners. The couple purchased the home back in 2008, according to public records, but listed it on the market in 2011. The couple has since split.
According to Howard Hanna's web listing on Zillo the property was purchased on March 14, 2008 for $268,700 and is now listed (as of March 2, 2013) for $269,900. It has been on the market for more than two years, listed for sale on July 29, 2011 for $289,000.
The case has been assigned to Judge Tom Parker. A .pdf file of the bank filing can be found as an attachment below.
