Stow extends their lead over Kent to 15-7 with a 31 yd TD pass, but after 2 missed Stow field goals Kent can still tie it up with a touchdown and a 2-point conversion.
SVSM still leads Walsh Jesuit 21-17. A much closer game than we thought it would be. Walsh has been impressive tonight.
Woodridge scored on the opening drive of the second half but missed the PAT. Manchester still leads 22-19.
Ellet wasted no time out of the locker room, scoring on the first play of the second half to extend their lead over Tallmadge to 28-14.
Copley continues to show the way over Firestone 14-0. Copley just missed a field goal.
Copley leads Firestone at the half 14-0.
SVSM put another one on the board against Walsh Jesuit to lead it 21-10.
Jacob Ivery punched one in for Ellet just before the half to take a 21-7 lead over Tallmadge.
Manchester leads Woodridge 16-13 in the 2nd.
It's still a close one in the border war between Kent Roosevelt and Stow with Kent leading 7-6. Stow upset Kent in this matchup a year ago, and they could very well do it again tonight.
Copley is pulling away from Firestone 14-0 in a game you can hear on 1590 WAKR.
Ellet leads Tallmadge 14-7.
SVSM leads Walsh 14-10, but so far Walsh is showing they can hang with the team that most people think is the best in the area.
It's still tight between Manchester and Woodridge with Woodridge trailing 8-7.
Kent took the lead over Stow with a touchdown and an extra point. They're ahead 7-6.
Copley continues to show the way against Firestone 7-0. Firestone coach Tim Flossie thinks his team left some on the table last year, and a win tonight would go a long way to prove that.
Ellet still leads Tallmadge 7-0. With 17 returning starters, they should be stout all season long.
Walsh Jesuit is on the board against SVSM, but it's only a field goal. The Irish still lead 7-3.
Manchester leads 8-7. Always interesting to watch what happens later in the game when a team goes for 2 early.
Stow strikes first against Kent Roosevelt and leads it 6-0. It's starting to become easier to understand how Stow knocked off Hoover last week.
Aurora jumped out to an early lead on Ravenna 7-0.
Ellet is winning the battle of the conference champs over Tallmadge 7-0.
Stow-Kent, SVSM-Walsh, and Firestone-Copley remain scoreless in the early going.
Games to Watch
Firestone at Copley (LIVE on 1590 WAKR) Firestone comes off a tough loss to GlenOak last week while Copley hopes to maintain momentum from a win against Cleveland JFK. Listen live starting at 7:00 p.m. on 1590 WAKR.
Tallmadge at Ellet A battle of two conference champions from 2012. Suburban League champ Tallmadge has been underrated in the early going, but a win over City Series champion Ellet combined with a big win over Ravenna last week would go a long way to showing people they belong among this year's Suburban League contenders. Ellet, meanwhile, looks to continue their winning ways after a 35-7 rout of Springfield last week.
SVSM at Walsh Jesuit What can you say about the Irish that a 63-0 performance against Akron Garfield last week didn't? Ohio State recruits Parris Campbell and Dante Booker were as good as advertised if not better. Walsh Jesuit, meanwhile, looks to right the ship after a disappointing 2012 and a tough loss to Youngstown Ursuline last week. The Warriors gave up 13 unanswered points in the 4th quarter last week. Anything less than 48 minutes of top performance from them this week won't cut it.
Woodridge at Manchester Manchester put up a baseball score last week in an 8-6 win over Hillsdale. They'll need to do more on offense this week to beat Woodridge. Dalevon Davidson racked up 132 yards on the ground for the Bulldogs in week 1.
Stow at Kent Roosevelt Stow was an upset winner last week against Hoover, and they face another tough test in the defending Portage Trail Conference Metro Division Champion Rough Riders. QB Andy Wargo led a big fourth quarter drive to seal the win last week, and he'll face a strong QB in Kent's Dustin Monaco, who found his groove after a somewhat shaky first half against Hoban.
