Akron Police are looking for leads to help them track down whoever shot and killed one man and wounded another in the parking lot behind a market on the corner of Lovers Lane and Arlington shortly after 3:30 Thursday afternoon. A 23 year old man now identified as former Ellet football star Paris Wicks II was killed, and another 23-year old man was found wounded in a driveway down the street.
Wicks, of Wall Street, was killed by a single gunshot to the torso, according to Gary Guenther, chief investigator for the Summit County Medical Examiner.
Captain Dan Zampelli says they could use the public's help in finding the shooter. He tells AkronNewsNow they've received a lot of leads to investigate, and are canvassing the neighborhood. The shooting started with an argument.
Zampelli says it was a traumatic experience for children coming home from school who witnessed the gunfire. None were wounded.
The other victim remains hospitalized for treatment of gunshot wounds.
