It took several hours and multiple fire departments to put out a four-alarm fire in Perry Township last night.
NewsChannel 5 reports the smoke was so thick at the apartment building in the 5000 block of Yukon St. NW that crews had to fight the blaze from outside. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No one was home at the time except one tenant's golden retriever. The landlord's niece rescued him. Witnesses say they heard an explosion but the fire department couldn't confirm if one actually happened.
