Cuyahoga Falls is asking treasure hunters and swimmers to avoid the area where two dams were recently demolished.
Service Director Valerie Wax Carr tells The Beacon Journal everything from sharp rocks to shards of glass and rebar sit just below the surface. She warns any treasure hunters who take items of historical value face prosecution. The Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society plans to catalogue anything of historical value found around the dam and hold an event to show off the finds. Earlier this week, two men were sent away empty handed after they tried to pull a cart out of the river.
An organized cleanup day for the area is set for Sept. 28.
