A Cleveland City Councilman found guilty Tuesday by a jury of OVI charges.
NewsChannel 5 reports Zack Reed a ward councilman since 2000, was stopped at East 9th Street and Rockwell Avenue in Cleveland on March 5.
Reed’s attorney Kevin Spellacy spoke after the verdict was read.
Obviously, we're disappointed in the verdict," he stated. "You could see the strain on some of the jurors faces as we were looking at them, some were actually in tears."
Reed did not make a statement and did not take the stand during his trial.
Police said Reed failed to stop at a light before turning. He failed a field sobriety test and smelled of alcohol according to officers.
Reed faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison, when he's sentenced on September 5th. This was his third OVI arrest.
