Barberton Mayor Bob Genet is declaring an emergency because of a "natural hazard" -- namely the flooding that followed three to five inches of rain Tuesday morning.

The mayoral proclamation asks citizens to fully cooperate with police and emergency workers during this time.

Barberton also has a special trash pickup day set for this Friday, July 22, 2011 for victims of flooding from last Tuesday's torrential downpour.

Weight limit for bundles and bags is 50 pounds; carpet should be cut into sections no longer than four feet and rolled, and all trash should be on the curb by seven in the morning.
