VIDEO Potentially Explosive Bottles Disappear 7/31/2010 8:47:45 AM | Tina Kaufmann, AkronNewsNow.com Last week, Portage County authorities removed several potentially explosive bottles along area roadways. Now, they've disappeared. advertisement While the department is happy the bottles aren't popping up anymore along area roadways, Portage County Sheriff David Doak tells Channel 3 News he has no idea why they've disappeared. He speculates maybe the culprits heard local media broadcasting it and that deterred them from continuing to make them. Reportedly, the two-liter bottles had chemical leftovers of so-called "shake and bake" meth labs.
Authorities warn if you see any such bottle with white foam in it, don't touch it, rather call police.
In Columbus several years back, a dozen people were killed by the instant meth cookers when one exploded. This hasn't been the only problem in Portage County. Lately, there has been a rash of burglaries in the late night hours in Shalersville and Suffield.
