The City of Akron and the Civil Service Personnel Association have been unable to reach agreement on wage reopener negotiations.

It means Akron will be asking the 347 City of Akron employees engaged in clerical, administrative, non-managerial and customer service positions to take wage concessions.

Both sides will now engage in a fact-finding process through the State Employment Relations Board.

A fact finder selected by the parties from a panel provided by SERB will listen to arguments from both sides before issuing a report containing recommendations for a resolution.

The City has been in talks with CSPA since mid-December, 2009 on a provision in the CSPA contract requiring discussion of wages for 2010.
