A "Freedom Seder" on Sunday afternoon will bring two Akron communities together.

The event at Temple Israel will be a gathering of members of Akron's Jewish community and the local African-American community - to celebrate the common theme of freedom.

Rabbi Robert Feinberg, leader of Temple Isreal, says the concept of a "Freedom Seder" goes back 30 or 40 years, and has even been done before in Akron.

Rabbi Feinberg says the Biblical story of Exodus is an important part of a number of communities.

The "Freedom Seder" features inspirational music from church and synagogue choirs, and will serve ceremonial foods with a dessert reception.

It's Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Temple Israel on Merriman Road in Akron.
