Foodbank Executive Director Dan Flowers says the goal is $700,000, which is $75,000 more than last year's successful campaign.

Flowers told the media and community organization members at the campaign kick-off 'Some folks may think it unwise to raise the bar during tough economic times.

"I guess I beleive that it would be unwise to not press for more, when more and more people need it. This is your campaign. We sink or we swim together on this one. Harvest for Hunger is a make or break effort for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, and we've set an ambitious goal," he explained.

As part of the campaign six local supermarket chains will have 1, 5 and $10 coupons at checkout registers for customers to scan to contribute.
