VIDEO Preschooler Raises Money For Haiti 1/20/2010 4:31:14 AM | Tina Kaufmann, AkronNewsNow.com A little boy's big idea, to collect money from every student at his school to help the people of Haiti, has been a huge hit. advertisement 3-year-old Max is a preschooler at Our Lady of the Elms and came up with the idea of collecting one dollar from each student to send to Haiti. "They need it for the buildings...the ground opened," Max explains.
His teacher, Mrs. Adelman, is so proud of him. "We've collected a total of $370 and Max alone collected $82 of that over the weekend."
Max says he asked his parents' friends for the money, whom were more than willing to help his cause. This isn't the only time Max has reached out to help others. He packs boxes with his dad to send to his uncle who's serving in the military in Afghanistan.
"He's an Army guy, but he doesn't shoot people," Max says. Mrs. Adelman praises the preschooler's parents, "obviously they've instilled in him what it means to help other people." The school is thinking of selling popcorn Friday to add to the total Help Haiti Fund. "We always try to do something that will help the children to understand there are other people out there and we all need help sometimes," says Mrs. Adelman. Max says he wants to help others because it makes his heart feel good. Previous ANN Coverage:
