Akron Ranks Tops In Home Affordability
 11/6/2009 12:23:54 PM  |  Chris Keppler, AkronNewsNow.com

If you live in a town where there's a Mid-American Conference School, your house might be cheaper than other college towns.

That's according to a group of Realtors, who crunched the numbers in 120 College Football Bowl Subdivision schools for the price of an average 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom house.

In Akron, that house would cost about $122,000.  It's about $166,000 in Kent.  Try Palo Alto University (home of Stanford University):  $1.5 million.

The Most Affordable, according to Coldwell Banker Real Estate:

Going from the home of the Zips to the home of Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA), will cost more than ten times the amount of money you would pay for that house in Akron.

The Least Affordable, according to Coldwell Banker Real Estate:

The survey shows that the cost of the typical 4-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home would cost  less than $250,000 in 62% of the cities included in the study.
