The Westfall Family from Norton, whose son, Sean, is a solider, was stationed in Fort Hood.

Sean Westfall, a Barberton High School graduate, was stationed in Fort Hood three years ago, coming back from his second tour of duty in Iraq. Anna Westfall, Sean's mother, said she heard the news at home as she was watching TV.

"My daughter in law called me and she said, "mom are you watching the news?" and I said no, I'm watching another program, and that's when I found out."

Anna said the harrowing news was hard to take, but was relieved when she got word that Sean was okay.
Tia Westfall, Sean's wife, says she offers her prayers for those affected by this tragic act of violence

"It's sickening and sad to see this happening, and we offer our prayers and support to those who were affected by this terrible tragedy."

Anna said that her son was not on the base, but was called down when word of the shooting broke.

"Sean was home for the day, but they called him in and he is in full uniform and the base is on lockdown."

Fort Hood is on lockdown for an unspecified amount of time while authorities sort out the details.

Anna Westfall said that said she has received many calls from her military support group asking questions about her son's safety.

"My phone has been ringing off the hook from members of my support group," Anna said.

"Sean can't call his wife but he can text her and when she gets through texting him, she calls me, and then I call her parents, who live in Barberton, so we've been staying in constant contact."

Sean lives in nearby Killeen, Texas with his wife Tia and their two children. The couple is expecting another child due in March.
