Unofficial results from northeast Ohio's Stark County show Kathryn Knowles has won a four-year term to one of three available board seats in the Jackson Local district. The 18-year-old voted for the first time in Tuesday's election and attends Jackson High School in Massillon, about 50 miles south of Cleveland.

Knowles had said she wanted to help her school and the school district. She calls the experience of the campaign "phenomenal."

Congrats to Ms. Knowles are in order. It's great to see kids these days taking a stand in their own affairs, and who better to serve as a member of the school board than a member of the school system.

Kudos! And most unlike the elitists running the affairs of the City of Streetsboro! Seems they think that if you're 18 years old you're good enough to be cannon-fodder for our Armed Forces but you're not good enough to be mayor of their fair city!
