A pending drug buy turned into a robbery in South Akron.

A 24-year-old Akron man probably regrets picking up a teenager who was supposed to sell him marijuana near the intersection of South Arlington Street and 5th Avenue late Monday night.

Once inside the victim's car, the suspect pulled out a gun and robbed the victim of ten dollars, a diamond engagement ring, and a camera before fleeing.

The victim went home and called police. Officers tracked down the robber, a 16-year-old boy, near the intersection of Welton Avenue and South Arlington Street. After a brief foot chase, officers arrested the teen at the rear of a business in the 800 block of South Arlington Street. Officers also recovered the gun used in the robbery.

The juvenile was arrested for Delinquency by Aggravated Robbery and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. He was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility.

It takes a lot of chutzpah to ask the police to intervene when being robbed while making an illegal drug purchase. I wonder if the buyer was charged as well?

It doesn't matter whether you are buying drugs, using an atm or walking down the street. We can not let these animals continue to think they can do whatever they want. They are robbing, beating and menacing people so that they can up their street cred, and what we need to do is ruin that cred by either locking them up or shooting back. Locking them up generally does no good as we have an extremely lax juvenile system in place, so the next option is to take back the streets. I wish neighborhood watches could become neighborhood security forces, capable of dealing street justice out to these worthless punks.

Cloverine, This happens all the time. In most cases though the victim doesnt press charges or doesnt cooperate with police. I'm glad they caught the kid and the man buying dope learns a valuable lesson?..eh..maybe not. Potheads dont think logically that shows quite clearly here huh?
