The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office says 36-year-old Keith Caplinger had a blood-alcohol level of 0.146 at the time the crash took place.

It was around 11:30 p.m. back on August 15 when authorities say Caplinger went left of center while driving eastbound on Killian Road.  Moments later, he struck another vehicle head on near Myersville in front of Nativity Church.

Caplinger, and his son Luke, were pronounced dead at the scene.  Luke's friend Ryland Reel was also killed in the crash.

The 16-year-old driver of the other vehicle was taken to Akron Children's Hospital after the wreck for treatment of minor injuries.

One witness to the wreckage said, "It really just looked like metal and tires."

A memorial of stuffed animals, flowers, toys and a cross still remain standing at a telephone pole near the crash site.

The legal limit in the state of Ohio is .08.

how many more need to drive either behind the wheel or at the hands of someone behind the wheel impaired? It's time for ALL of us to take responsibility. That father was not drinking alone, time to STOP looking the other way when someone drinks and heads for the car.

I was there minutes after it happened, what a mess. So sad to see these things happen for stupid reasons. The witnesses are right, it was a crumpled mess of tires and metal, and you never forget the smell of accident scenes. I rode along with an APD traffic cop on night shift for years, and have been at nine fatals, they are something you never forget.

I recall how many of you at the time assumed that the 16 year old was drunk. this should be a lesson for those of you so quick to judge w/out the facts

Erickson of WNIR has just trashed the reporting ability of Akron News Now. Must be that he's still miffed about the Heaven Can Wait mess his daughter created.
