Recall Finances: Mayor's Amount Overwhelms Pro-Recall
 8/1/2009 10:43:15 AM  |  Mike Ward, AkronNewsNow.com

Those trying to keep Mayor Don Plusqellic in the Akron mayor's office raised nearly $300,000 to do so.

That's according to post-recall election finance reports cited by the Beacon Journal.

Campaigns in favor of Plusquellic, including the group "Citizens for Akron" and another group called "VoteAgainstTheRecall.com", raised over $294,000 in the successful effort to turn back a mid-term recall of Plusquellic.

The group in favor of the recall, "Change Akron Now", raised just $7,300.

The amount is no surprise to recall watchers, as organizer Warner Mendenhall frequently noted the financial disadvantage that "Change Akron Now" had in fundraising.

Though large Akron companies and executives are listed throughout reports of contributions in favor of Plusquellic, the recall campaign reported a number of individual, small donors...led in the most recent report by Mendenhall himself.

So what's that $7300 gonna being used for?

Pay off the tax lien? Oh, silly me. Of course not. It'll be used towards Kelly Mendenhall's unsuccessful attempt to get on City Council.

there is .31 left over in the CAN account according to that article...the 7300 was used by the campaign....

it would be unethical and illegal to use those campaign funds to pay on a personal tax lien....if you were a slg, you should have known that...

Spare me MissTia...cleaning the clock of your "leader" is very easy, so spare me your attempt at schooling me. Oh and not paying taxes and child support as ordered is illegal as well. Not to mention can get one's license to practice suspended or possibly revoked in the state of Ohio. And I know all of this and more. Unlike your leader. And you, while I'm at it.

i'm not replying to anymore of your comments....you are hateful, rude, perpetuate false statements and just like to personally attack people....

Maybe SLG would like to comment on what Plusquellic spent his $300,000 on... Alimony payments? hiring yet another deputy mayor? Bar tab at Bricco? Trip to China? Maybe it could go to towards the millions we owe the EPA in fines for pumping raw sewage into the Cuyahoga River.
