It's being done to give people who want to participate in the recall election of Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic more opportunities to cast ballots one way or the other.

The board offices at 470 Grant Street in Akron will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. today through Friday.

Absentee voters can also walk in to request a ballot Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon and again Monday, June 22 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The group that initiated the election reported last week that more than 2,000 absentee ballots had already been cast.  No ballots will be counted until the polls close on the day of the special election, which is Tuesday, June 23.
