Ohio Gas Prices Continue To Climb
 1/12/2009 7:30:06 AM  |  Ryan Haidet

Gasoline prices have moved closer to $2 a gallon in Ohio even as oil prices slump on economic worries.

The price checkers at AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express say a gallon of regular is averaging about $1.92 statewide, 10 cents more than last Monday and 13 cents above the national average of $1.79.

Gas in Ohio is still down more than $1 from where it was last year at this time, when the state's average price was $3.06.

Prices have risen over the last week despite a 17 percent drop in oil prices on worries that rising U.S. unemployment and weak corporate profits will hurt demand for crude.

It will go even higher once they tack on a tax increase in order to keep funding the orange barrels.

I've been saying that all along misstia! The price increase may be due to worries about a hurrican in 2047! These greedy coffers will make up any excuse to gouge the consumers!

IF YOU WOULD HAVE SAW THE REPORT THEY DID ON GAS PRICING ON 20?20 LAST NIGHT YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND WHY. IT IS TRUE, IT IS ALL A BIG SCAM BY HEDGEFUNDS AND BANKS. THE SPECULATION MARKET IS WHAT IS DRIVING THE PRICES, NOT THE SUPPLY AND DEMAND.

The problem with the oil/fuel companies is they can charge almost any price they want. People have to buy the fuel or the world will almost come to a stand still. People got used to the $4.00/gallon, the price dropped more than 50% = Mad Rush for Gas. And now the companies can go and raise the price and they'll keep saying "Still cheaper than last summer... still cheaper than 2 years ago....." The companies also got too used to their FAT wallets from their EXTREMELY HIGH PROFITS and now when they start to see only MODERATELY high profits, they start to get a little nervous. Worried they may have to start getting their suits lined with something other than $1000 bills.

IF we had jobs we could afford the gas. I thought that if the demand was down the price went down. I guess I was proved wrong. Its all corporate greed.
