Chris described the wide range of emotions felt by members of the victim's families, attorneys, other witnesses and by Richard Cooey.

Describes the scene at Lucasville on Tuesday

While it was the first execution he attended, Keppler admitted to 'being nervous' when the witnesses, officials and members of the victim's families crowded into the small room.  The witnesses separated from Cooey and the prison staff by only a wall and a pane of glass.

Keppler said "emotions inside the room changed" when Cooey walked into the room and lay down on the gurney. He added, "there was very little movement or noise" by everyone inside the witness room while the execution process unfolded.  Once the execution was completed, Keppler said he was glad to leave the witness room.

Again, the appeal to turn the predator into some sort of martyr. So now the perpetrator gains victim status? I understand he was vulgar and hatefilled right to the end. No remorse. What kind of person is that? One who has some redeeming social values? I think not. A monster, yes.
