J.M. Smucker Co.'s fiscal fourth-quarter earnings jumped 25%, compared to the same periond a year ago. as the Orrville-based food company reported stronger volume as well as margins helped by lower green coffee costs.
Revenue declined slightly from the year-earlier quarter due to price cuts.
For the quarter ended April 30, Smucker reported a profit of $130.3 million, or $1.22 a share, versus a profit of $104.1 million, or 93 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales edged down 1.2% to $1.34 billion.
J.M. Smucker, is known for brands like its name-sake fruit spreads, Jif peanut butter, and coffee, which includes brands such as Folgers, Dunkin' Donuts and Millstone.
Diebold Inc. has named a new CEO.
The company's board of directors has named former Hewlett-Packard Co. senior executive Andy W. Mattes as the new company president and chief executive officer.
Mattes will assume his new duties immediately. The company's website said Mattes was also named board director.
