Stow Police are investigating a couple of incidents where suspicious men approached young children in the city. Investigators say they don't know if the incidents were connected or if it was the same man who approached the children.
The first incident occurred on March 17th, around 7:00 p.m. The second occurred on April 9th, at 1:30 in the afternoon.
On March 17th, a man in a car in the area of Bryn Athen Drive, Stow, stopped and asked an eight-year-old girl and her friends if they had seen his lost puppy. One of the girls asked for his phone number in case they found it and he responded it was on the tag and drove away. The man did not exit the vehicle nor make any moves toward the child. he was described as a a middle-aged man, with a goatee and straight, black, thick hair. He was also wearing gloves. The vehicle he was driving was described as similar to a Honda Civic, blue, with a “fin” on the back.
On April 9th a woman was at the SKIP playground with several children when she noticed an older, man was playing basketball with the children. She then observed the man walking away with a 10-year old boy. She called out to the boy and he turned and came back. The woman described the man as white, tall, heavy-set, and 50-60 years old, with a thick white mustache, balding with some gray hair. He was wearing a royal blue sweatsuit.
