Akron Police have arrested three suspects in connection with an attempted home break-in late Wednesday morning in the Firestone Park area. The suspects may also have been involved in at least five other burglaries over this past weekend.
Officers responded to a call for a burglary in progress in the 1500 block of Evergreen Avenue. The homeowner reported she heard someone pounding on her front and side doors. She looked out of a second story window and observed three suspects in her driveway. She then called police as they were walking away.
Shortly after the police department received the Evergreen Avenue call, several other calls were received from an off-duty officer, a postman and another resident concerning the 3 suspects.
Officers arrested three suspects near the intersection of Cypress Avenue and South Firestone Boulevard. Two 16-year old boys and 18-year old Michale Green of Greenwood Avenue.were charged with Attempted Burglary.
One of the teens confessed and was charged with five counts of burglary regarding the five burglaries that occurred on Glenmount Avenue, East Archwood Avenue, South Firestone Boulevard and Thornapple Avenue.
The other 16-year old was charged with misrepresenting his identity and lying to police.
Detectives are still following up on identifying the second suspect that was involved in the weekend break-ins.
