Stocks Recover Losses; Dow Up Nearly 100 PointsHemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Stocks resumed their climb Tuesday, one day after the markets' worst sell-off so far this year.

The Dow closed up 99 points, or 0.7 percent, at 13,979.30. The Nasdaq gained 40 points Tuesday to close at 3,171.58. The S&P added 16, closing at 1,511.29.

It's still a good time to buy a home -- but for how much longer? Real estate firm CoreLogic says prices rose 8.5 percent in December, the biggest jump in nearly six and a half years.

Meanwhile, investors may be saying "yuck" after seeing Yum Brands' latest earnings. The fast-food chain, which owns KFC, said its latest earnings fell 5.3 percent in the fourth quarter as a Chinese government review of poultry supplies hurt same-store sales in China.
