The Massillon Independent reports the blaze started after a chair was set on fire on top of the playground equipment which included two slides.
Fire officials say about an hour earlier, they received reports of a couch fire near a basketball court at the park on Third Street. They are still investigating whether the two incidents are connected.
Officials say replacing and installing new equipment could cost around $80,000.
Witnesses tell authorities they saw several young juveniles near the equipment before the fire.
Officials say they are now offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who comes forward with information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the fire.
