The Post-Game Interview and
Assessment
We’ve all seen them on
television or heard them on the radio; the fast talking sportscaster
interviewing the winning quarterback after the big game. This one-minute snippet
gives the star a chance to shine a little bit brighter, thank their teammates,
and get a nice pat on the back and congratulations. That is a small part of the
post-game process that we all see. The most important part is the post-game
assessment that we typically don’t see, however, is when the players and coaches
review game films for countless hours, searching for ways to improve their
performance in the next game. The winning team always assesses its performance.
The losing team obsessively reviews its performance trying to find a way to win
the next game.
When you are looking for a
new job, the same post-game interview and assessment process can be utilized.

did I make in the interview?
When you have completed
the assessment, you should create a plan to improve your performance in the next
interview. Pay special attention to any area where you scored a 3 or lower, as
these are the areas where you can make the biggest improvement. Address the
mistakes you made and plan ahead so you don’t make the same mistakes in your
next interview. Your plan should include practice and additional preparation
before you go on another interview.
By reviewing your past
performance in interviews, you are able to better prepare for your next
interview. This process of constant improvement will ensure that your
performance in each interview will be better that the last
