GRANGER TWP., Ohio -- It’s hard to call a 15-year old high school freshman your “go-to guy,” but that’s what Brogan Scott is to the Highland Hornets. The freshman tossed in 18 points Tuesday night as Highland surprised the Green Bulldogs 61-58 in a Suburban League boys basketball contest. “That’s why he’s playing at 7:30,” Highland coach Mike Marcinko said. “Brogan has the ability to string shots together. He plays slightly older than his age. He’s a competitor. He wants the ball in his hands and we want him to have it.” Scott game up huge in a 12-0 Highland run in the third quarter that gave the Hornets the lead. Trailing 37-31 with 4:30 to go in the period, Scott hit a 3-pointer to start the Hornets’ run. Highland sophomore Alex Wood tied the game the next trip down the floor with a 3 from the right wing. Scott gave Highland the lead for good at 40-37 on a 3 from the left wing. A layup by Luke Heben and a free throw by Brennan Scott, Brogan’s brother, wrapped up the Highland flurry. A last-second basket by Green junior Dan Fanelly made the count 43-39 at the end of three quarters. “Brogan stepped up and hit a couple of clutch shots in that run to get us going,” Marcinko said.
