The daughter of a Sagamore Hills couple is one of two victims in a fatal avalanche in British Columbia, Canada.
The story in today's Plain Dealer says Katie Aring, 29, a 2000 graduate of Nordonia High School, who most recently lived in Utah, won a trip that included dropping her group of skiers by helicopter on virgin snow on a mountaintop. They were waiting for the chopper to pick them up when the avalanche started.
Steven and Linda Aring learned of their daughter's death when a hospital called Wednesday night.
Aring and a man from England died. Her boyfriend and another victim were found by rescue teams with minor injuries.
