Police discovered two meth labs, cash and chemicals while following up on complaints of odors seeping out of an Akron home.
"Officers following up on a citizen complaint for possible drug activity on North Main Street in Akron, arrested five individuals for the manufacturing of methamphetamines," Akron Police Lt. Rick Edwards said.
During a traffic stop at 4 p.m. Monday, officers attempted to question a person leaving the home in question in the 1000 block North Main Street. Then additional officers obtained a search warrant to enter the home after smelling a strong odor of chemicals.
Officers found two meth labs and $11,000 in cash.
Edwards says the home had "a very large amount of chemicals" inside.
Police arrested Shawn C. Smith, 37, Michael C. Stewart, 47, Caitlin J. Sullivan, 28, Aaron P. Leslie, 36, all of Akron and Michael R. Small, 46, of Tallmadge.
Each suspect faces illegal manufacturing of methamphetamines , illegal assembly of chemicals, trafficking in methamphetamines and possession of methamphetamines .
All five were taken to the Summit County Jail.
