5th Annual Wine Opener Rosemont Country Club, Fairlawn

The 5th Annual Wine Opener, for the benefit of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, will be held on Friday, March 12, at Rosemont Country Club.  For the $60 ticket, guests will recieve entrance into the event, all wine and food tastings, a keepsake tasting glass and a tasting journal (the event program).  Along with delicious food (16 local restaurants) and wine pairings, guests will also be treated to lively auctions and entertainment.  For more infomration, visit NortheastOH.cff.org/akron wine.

Winter Patent and Trademark Program Akron-Summit County Public Library, Main Branch
The Akron-Summit County Public Library is celebrating its fifteenth year as a Patent & Trademark Depository Library in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  An Introduction to Online Patent Searching  program will be held at  the Main Library (60 S. High St. in Akron) on March 13 from 10am-noon.  Librarians from the Science & Technology division will show you how to do a patent search using the United States Patent & Trademark Web site. Basic computer skills and familiarity with the Internet is preferred.

Bliss Institute/Interfaith Council Event University of Akron - Martin Center
Leadership Studies author, Douglas Hicks, will speak at 3 & 6 pm at the Martin University Center at 105 Fir Hill. Hicks will discuss his recent book, “With God on All Sides,” and is being hosted by the Akron Interfaith Council and The University of Akron Bliss Institute of Applied Politics. Both events are open to the public and will include a question-and-answer period followed by a book signing. “A Vision for Leadership” at 3 pm is free and is moderated by Dr. John Green, Director of the University of Akron Bliss Institute. The 6 pm session is moderated by Dr. Jay Groat, pastor of First Congregational Church of Akron, includes dinner at a cost of $25 per person and reservations are required. They can be made by mailing a check to The Akron Area Interfaith Council, 800 E. Market Street, Akron, OH 44305. Reservation deadline is March 16.
