Considine is marking his 30th anniversary as President and CEO of Children's Hospital. In an age when the tenure of a hospital CEO is just a few years, its remarkable that Considine continues to serve Children's Hospital and the Akron community.

Considine is now the longest-serving children's hospital CEO in the country and the longest serving CEO of any Ohio hospital.

Back in 1979, 32-year old Bill Considine was hired as CEO of Akron Children's Hospital.  At the time, Considine was looking forward back to his hometown.  To top it off, Considine is still here.

Considine calls his time at Children's Hospital 'a blessed experience, very enriching to be part of an organization that does such meaningful work.'

'I've had the opportunity to meet such wonderful families, to work with so many wonderful people and learn so many life lessons,' said Considine.

Considine says he has sought to maintain three promises that the founders of Children's Hospital made to the community back 120 years. 'Promise number one, treat every child that every child was their own. Promise number two treat everyone the way you want to be treated and promise number three never turn a child away for any reason.  Those promises are still alive at Children's Hospital', said Considine.

Last year, Children's Hospital served over 500,000 patients from every county in Ohio, from 37 states and 13 countries.  Considine says over the next five years, 'those numbers at Children's will continue to grow.'
