Catholic Foundation Moving Into Old Fast-Food Site 6/30/2009 6:24:42 AM | Associated Press A Catholic service organization that helps fund churches and schools is moving into the site of the first Wendy's restaurant. advertisement The Catholic Foundation is buying the property, which sits across the street from St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Columbus, and plans to move in next year. Catholic Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Damiano says the new location gives the foundation more visibility which might help it raise more money. The foundation manages $86 million a year and provides funding for social service groups, Catholic school tuition and support of retired priests, among other causes. Wendy's founder Dave Thomas opened the original store in 1969. Wendy's closed the store two years ago, saying it could no longer afford to keep the money-losing location open.
