ECONOMY SERIES: AUDIO Home Repairs For Low Income Residents 3/23/2009 4:03:47 AM | Lindsay McCoy From fixing a broken faucet to roof repairs, Rebuilding Together of Summit County gathers local volunteers to help out the low income and elderly residents. advertisement Lately the organization has received more requests for home repairs and construstion has increased. More often volunteers are finding homes have problem beyond a quick facelift. "Sometimes the house has too much wrong with it, there's extensive repairs that need to be made and in that case we have to either bring in other community members to help us acomplish the task or in some cases we have to actually walk away," Paul Holm said, executive director for Rebuilding Together of Summit County.
The organization has in the past brought in large groups of volunteers to fix up multiple issues, but usually a few people will stop by to lend a hand. In Summit County there are thousands of residents who are eligible to participate according to Holm. The organization's goal is rebuild broken down communities.
"We're focusing on how to get homeowners back in their homes," Holm said. Holm said they always need more volunteers from diverse areas of expertise. He explained those with construction experience are just as important as those with a business background.
