ECONOMY SERIES: AUDIO More Modifying Child Support 3/19/2009 4:35:03 AM | Lindsay McCoy More parents responsible for paying child support are requesting lower monthly payments. advertisement "The amount of individuals who have requested a review of their child support obligations has increased significantly," said John Galonsky, assistant prosecuting attorney for The Summit County Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA). CSEA has seen a 15 percent increase in those seeking income reviews in comparison to this time last year. It's a result of job loss and layoffs according to Galonsky . He said the agency is making changes to help parents reorganize. "We're trying to shift the way we do things to maximize the needs of the community," he said. This shift includes the encouragement to go through the income review and adjustment process. Not have a job doesn't mean the monthly payments go away. The court can attach the payment to unemployment benefits. According to the Ohio Office of Child Support, more than $1.9 billions dollars was owed for the federal fiscal year of 2008. In Summit County more than $91 million dollars in current support was owed in the same time period.
The outlook for the 2009 Fiscal year collections is uncertain at this time, but on average, the current support collection rate was 68.7 percent. For collections in Summit County, it's an average of about 67 percent. One The Web: www.drcourt.org Related Coverage: Covering Child Support Payments Content © AkronNewsNow.com. All rights reserved.

Things get so much harder when you are on your own. As for not having children you cant afford, would any of us be here if our parents conciderd that?
