Parents looking for ways to keep their children feed, look no further than the Akron Public School district provide meals on a daily basis.

The district has noticed an increase of families seeking assistance from the free and reduced School Meal Programs. The Free Breakfast Program is offered to all students, regardless of their family's income.

For students from kindergarten through fifth grade, a similar Lunch Program is available. Students who attend middle school and high school are eligible for the School Meal Program based on financial need.

To sign up, parents must complete an application, which the cafeteria manager at each school can send home with the student. If families would like to sign up in private, they may also call or stop by the Child Nutrition Office on 550 E. North Street in Akron. Applications are usually processed in less than two days.

All information shared with the Child Nutrition Office is strictly confidential. Anyone who is interested in applying is strongly encouraged to do so.
