I never thought I would like reality television.  Then I saw Survivor: The Australian Outback and I was hooked.  Since then I have seen countless reality shows and continue to sit in front of the screen waiting to see what move everyday people will make in extraordinary situations.  My fandom of reality television brought me to many events, meeting past competitors.  Soon after, I landed a job as a writer for RealityTVMagazine.com.  I have represented them at several live Survivor finales since December of 2006.

MULTIMEDIA Jon & Kate Making BIG Announcement

Jon and Kate Gosselin are making a big announcement on tonight's episode of their family's hit reality show, and I'm guessing it's not that they're having another set of multiples.

TLC has been teasing the big announcement for quite some time, but haven't declared exactly what it is they are going to reveal.  Of course, most are speculating that they're either getting a divorce or separating for a short while.  Neither has been confirmed at this point.

WATCH a preview of the special-announcement episode:

Even though the drama may be a big obstacle for the family, you know the network is loving the situation.  They saw the biggest ratings in the show's history with the fifth season premiere a few week's ago.

That's why several other networks took advantage of the chance to cash in on all the drama. The TV Guide Channel had a 30-minute special Sunday night called "Jon & Kate: Is It Too Late?" They had interviewed family members and former church friends to get better insight into what the family is going through.

But a question I must ask:  Had there never been a reality show, would the family be going through these tough times?  What do you think?

And don't forget to tune in every weekday morning to 94.9 WQMX to hear the broadcast version of Reality Check.  This hits the airwaves at 6:50 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. with Ryan Haidet, Scott Wynn and Sue Wilson.

Above audio was heard in the broadcast version of Reality Check on 6/22/09.

I hope this episode ends just like the series finale of The Sopranos. The screen will suddenly go blank and I will neither know what happens to nor ever hear from J&K+8 again.
