  The Gift
Saturday night at E.J. Thomas Concert Hall the very best of our community came out to celebrate two cultures. But instead of a clash, these two wonderful expressions came together with a warm embrace.

  You Can Help
Aaron Katersky, the outstanding journalist for ABC Radio News, stood by as men dug graves with picks and shovels on the devastated half-island. His description of the scene was something that only radio could convey. Bodies lie nearby, some wrapped in sheets, some in only the bloodied clothes worn when the world came crashing down.

  Slurring Into The Truth
This week it was revealed that Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, has an especially poor way with words. It is a disease that is not new to men in that position, and they have all been men. Trent Lott also suffered from acute faulty tongue syndrome.

  Won't Get Fooled Again
You know why terrorism is a foolish pursuit? It can never work in changing American minds. Oh, we can change, and do, thank God. But we have never been threatened into doing so.

  When Headlines Hit Home
I have seen the economic woes of our nation up close, and it's not pretty.  Many of us have been hit by these crises, and they have come one on top of another.

  The Instant Gift
I sincerely hope Rick Warren is real. Nearly everyone knows who he is, if not, you probably know about his most famous book: The Purpose Driven Life. Rev. Warren was on Meet the Press this weekend and his segment made me think about generosity.

  Ohio: The New Salem
I have made no secret about my dissension toward the death penalty.  My reasons have been expressed here on many occasions and to avoid being redundant I'll link the core essay from last year here.

  A Different Shade of Evil
It will be a long time before people stop talking about Anthony Sowell and the parade of death unearthed in his Imperial Avenue home.  Women - so far all women - met a horrible end at the hands of someone. All indications are that this convicted sex-offender will find his way to the very wrong side of fame.

  Losing a Customer
We got a call early Saturday morning. It was from a large retailer, a huge retailer. They wanted to talk about renewing product protection plans on several items. Instead they blew it. Remarkably, simply, they lost me.

  The Freeing App
I was so excited the day I got my new phone. It did everything. It wasn't long before I had six full pages of colorful little icons, all representing some cool application, or apps. Some days it seemed that the last thing I needed the device for was talking to somebody.
